ABSTRACT

Even as a book entitled Drugs in Sport , it is beyond remit to review, in detail, all supplements that might be used by athletes for the purpose of enhancing performance and maintaining health. Indeed, many supplements that are pharmacological in nature are covered elsewhere in this book. Countless other supplements are available to the athlete but are not considered to be an issue with respect to doping (i.e. they are not present on the World Anti-Doping Agency [WADA] Prohibited List); these are reviewed extensively in other texts. Interested readers are directed to the reviews on nutritional supplements published in the British Journal of Sports Medicine (Volumes 43-47) for further information relating to speci¿ c supplements.
