I, Mari Luz Esteban, am an anthropologist and as a good daughter of my culture I have fully incorporated the romantic narrative of love. To address love in my part of the research has been and continues to be, a stimulating

process not only because of theoretical and political concerns, but also because it poses vital questions and existential paradoxes that exceed these domains (see Esteban, 2011).2 While stimulating, this process is both perturbing in my theoretical and methodological work, and disturbing in my personal life.
