ABSTRACT

A second Quarto with some variant readings was published in the same year, another (Q3) in 1611, and in 1619 Pericles was one of several pieces which J aggard and Pavier printed (Q4) for what was probably originally intended to be a large volume of works ascribed to Shakespeare, until protests by the King's Company thwarted the scheme. Other editions came out in 1630 (Q5) and 1635 (Q6). Obviously the piece remained very popular, but it was not incorporated into the Folio until 1664, with other doubtful plays.
