ABSTRACT

An important objective of LUTI models is to represent the mutual interaction between land use and mobility in evaluations of land use or transportation policies. This interaction goes two ways: the spatial setting of residences, services and facilities impacts individuals' activity and travel patterns, and the resulting traffic (leading to congestion and changes in accessibility) may impact on households' and firms' locational decisions. To account for these interactions, LUTI model systems typically include models of residential (re)location, models of car ownership and work location and models of daily trip making or activity patterns.
