ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the concepts covered in the preceding chapters of this book. The book reviews the saskia cousin offers a brief explanation of some of the more well-known French approaches to the imaginary. It examines how, after decades of being excluded by academics, the very exile of the concept of the imaginary has allowed the notion to find favor. The book also examines the classical descriptive ethnographies in their focus on the creativity of culture and the emergence and manipulation of tourist imaginaries. A parallel may be posited between these visual studies of media and the analyses of text, using methods long established in cultural studies by pioneers such as Barthes and Foucault. The study of websites examines the uses of multiple languages, combine visual and textual analyses, as does H. Hazel Hahn's discussion of French journal articles on transportation catastrophes.
