ABSTRACT
Places where the contract took the urban form were cities like London, Paris and Milan in the 18th century. We can follow here Jürgen Habermas’s view where ‘public opinion’, formed in what Hannah Arendt calls the ‘public sphere’ as opposed to ‘private’, can exercise criticism in the face of power.
