ABSTRACT

In response to Sandberg’s opening statement, ‘I do not know who I am’ (see chapter 1), 1 today I am a white, middle-class, married, British, female, young academic. I am fascinated by the question ‘what is law?’ and agree with Sandberg (2011:11) that:

[O]ne result of the current understanding of what religion law includes is that much of the literature on … legal pluralism is … excluded.
