ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the engagement of self-in-enterprise, and recognizes the development of individual and communal identities through transformative leadership, set in the context of building up a community of practice. The chapter explores the impact that business is having upon the global environment today, both positive and negative, and what can be done to enhance the sustainability of social and economic enterprise. The programme inductions first establish the participative context for being and doing, that is communal engagement, alignment and imagination respectively. Second, the workshops or course modules provide the knowledge base for the cycles of transformation -alias projects- to follow, drawing then upon both participation and reification. Conventionally speaking, then, in the course of an individual's transformation journey through an educational programme, there is, as it were, an individual departure without a built-in communal return.
