ABSTRACT

Reflections on Architecture, Society and Politics: Social and Cultural Tectonics in the 21st Century is intended as the first of a series of three books by Graham Cairns that brings together the thoughts of thinkers, practitioners and academics in the field of architecture and related disciplines. This first volume draws together individuals from the US and the UK. They have been at the top of their particular professions for at least three decades, and are thus ideally positioned to give a recent historical perspective on current developments. They represent some of the most influential thinkers, practitioners and academics of the recent times, and their thoughts and work are focused on the practical and conceptual issues that affect Western Europe and North America.
