ABSTRACT

The English Faculty Library (EFL) is one of the Bodleian Libraries of the University of Oxford. An umbrella organisation, Oxford University Library Services (OULS) was created in 2000 to improve the user experience of Oxford's libraries and to streamline and centralise many of our services. OULS incorporated many of the departmental, faculty and research libraries including the Bodleian Library under one banner and saw the introduction of subject librarians to coordinate collection development across the libraries. The EFL is well placed not only for the provision of traditional lending services to our readers but also for the delivery of interactive information skills training for English students in the IT Training Room. Faculty and departmental libraries are able not only to benchmark their services but also to learn from one another, repurposing existing resources for their own libraries, thus saving time, energy and resources.
