ABSTRACT
The communication mode of tertiary orality can be compared to the existing communication modes in terms of the technologies of words, the forms of address, and the relationship between the addresser and the addressee. For instance, conventional snapshots are typically taken and compiled in a 'home mode of pictorial communication' and shared in oral communication. As mobile snapshots, delivered by microblogs, expose the parts of an individual's everyday experience and serve as a vehicle for sharing a present moment, they can contribute the formation of a psychological proximity between the photographer and the viewer. The development of information communication technologies (ICTs) now allows photographs to be presented throughout various modes of communication. Noam Cohen, in his study of photobloggers, argues that the maintaining of a photoblog provides motivation for taking photos and thus, the web activities tend to be implicated in the photographic act of framing, taking, displaying, compiling, and reviewing photographs.
