ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on the establishment and the success of network and also offers some reflections on the type of work involved through the use of some case studies. It illustrates the range of enquiries with which a Diocesan Adviser might be presented the problems and difficulties that arise and the often unsatisfactory conclusions to many of the discussions and, to some extent The Church of England has donated the largest amount of money with the Catholic Church and the Free Churches also making some contribution. The Adviser would be a member of the clergy who was, to extent, knowledgeable and interested in the area of new religious movements– although not necessarily an expert. The Adviser's knowledge and interest often came through personal experience through contact with a movement itself or with families affected by contact with a movement. Nine O' Clock Service was a radical approach to worship based around a rock group which encouraged communal lifestyle.
