ABSTRACT
In the summer, a lot of tourists in Europe come to visit some inhabited monasteries to see how the ‘last of the Mohicans’ are living. 1 They often think that it is important to do it now because we don’t know how long they will stay. Small and old communities in big historical buildings give the impression that they will soon close down.
