ABSTRACT

My aim in this chapter is to consider some of the relationships between migration, health and well-being, and access to healthcare. Migration can be voluntary or involuntary (forced) and I considered the health impacts of the latter in the previous chapter. My focus here is on the reflexive relationship between voluntary migration and health. Migration can have an impact on the mover’s health, while the mover’s health status will affect her or his propensity to migrate. Examining these relationships has spawned a large literature.
