ABSTRACT
The Shell Companies in the Philippines (SCiP) is governed by the same business principles as all other Shell companies around the world. The three core values are honesty, integrity, and respect for people. Emanating from these core values are the companies' business principles, code of conduct, and code of ethics. Already trading for 100 years in the Philippines, the operations of Shell in the country include Pilipinas Shell Petroleum Corporation, Shell Exploration Philippines BV, Shell Business Service Centre–Manila, and Pilipinas Shell Foundation Inc. Edgar Chua, a 36-year-old veteran in SCiP, and Country Chair for the last 12 years, relayed how change is part of the psyche of the Shell "family". Ed shared how he learned from failures he had witnessed and even personally experienced, as a recipient of streamlining initiatives. He wants to make sure that the employees at Shell feel they are part of the family. Ed recognizes that an approach to change management is dependent on culture.
