ABSTRACT

As PURPLE has an analogue thinking system and does very well with story-telling and metaphor a large-scale intervention that focused on story-telling was proposed. The story of the cantata is told in this chapter. Solid scientific diagnostics, the BeQ diagnostic process were used to determine the culture of the two operations and the underlying beliefs in the systems. Post-intervention interviews were conducted two years after the intervention, and the results of these interviews are discussed and reported on. During May and June 2011 the industrial theatre production, called Cantata, was presented at Damang and Tarkwa. The play was carefully designed to address the dynamics indicated and described by the BeQ diagnostic technology. The work was mandated, integrated into strategy and became part of building sustainable business by the Executive Vice President, Peter Turner. Dawie Strydom has also worked with industrial theatre previously and was very involved in the strategic part of the intervention.
