ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents some closing thoughts on the key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book produces advice and guidance on virtual team working. It suggests that even armed with all the knowledge that there is no sure way of succeeding in a virtual working business environment; each situation is different, and the critical success factor is the people involved. To succeed in a virtual team setting will require support and flexibility on the part of the organization and its management. Resources must be committed in terms of the time and effort of top management, who must promote the development of a robust, flexible and trust-oriented team culture through high-quality leadership. The book explains that the care in balancing the technical, economic and human constraints and needs, in following guidance, and in implementing only what is needed to meet clear objectives will go a long way to ensuring the successful use of virtual teams.
