ABSTRACT
Introduction This chapter explores the use of survey tools embedded in location-aware devices (e.g. GPS-enabled smartphones and tablets), which have been suggested as a most promising data collection technology that allows transport researchers to collect accurate information on location and travel details, such as travel time, speed, acceleration and route of travel (Couper 2005; Sen et al. 2009; Sen and Bricka 2009).
