ABSTRACT
Introduction This chapter will examine the way in which those who care for our places of worship on a voluntary basis can be engaged by the conservation sector. It will look primarily at the Church of England, since this provides a good illustration of the importance of local ownership and local leadership in the conservation of heritage assets.
