ABSTRACT

Healthcare systems are dynamic as they deal with human life. Quality and patient safety are essential dimensions; however, globally, healthcare systems are facing challenges that put them at risk of regressing in terms of improving quality and patient safety. Therefore, many countries around the globe have taken active steps towards reviewing their healthcare systems and enabling them to identify strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats which can impact on quality and patient safety. This chapter will shed light on the reforms the Omani system has undertaken since its establishment in 1970, focusing on the impact of these reforms on quality and patient safety.
