ABSTRACT

This process should be revised according to the size and complexity of projects. The project closing process is started in order to respond to the big underlying question ‘Is the project ready for closing?’ This important question is evaluated and responded to in the closing assessment stage. If the assessment in the first stage reveals that the project is complete and ready for close out, the next stage in the closing process ‘closing preparation’ can start. This stage considers all actions that should be carried out in order to close projects legally. The final stage in the closing process is the post project review. In this stage, when the project owner or project management team ensures that the project is closed technically and legally in its entirety, they will then prepare the project end report and prepare the lessons learned. The project closing process can be represented graphically as shown in Figure 25.1.
