ABSTRACT

Recruitment for project management is very much the same as for other business sectors. The objective is to find the right person at the right time with the requisite blend of education, skills, experience and personality for the job. Success is achieved by focusing on key areas relevant to the vacancy factors such as education, training, competence, experience, qualifications and other things that make one candidate stand out from the others. This chapter follows the five generally recognised recruitment stages: Initiation, Planning the Process, Selection, Delivery and Support. Recruitment is not a task to be undertaken lightly, because so much depends on its outcome. Project management recruitment is a blend of art and science, not without problems. It is difficult to continue with their day job and stay committed and enthused about bringing new people into the organisation. So their workload inevitably increase for a short time whilst they review CVs, attend interviews and give careful thought to selection.
