Colombia: Father–Daughter Succession Issues in the Colombian Family Business Context

Colombia ranks as the third most populous country in Latin America following Brazil and Mexico, with 46.7 million people (Worldbank, 2009). The population is relatively young; the median age in 2006 was estimated at 26.3 years. Approximately 95 percent of Colombianos are Roman Catholic and the Church exerts a strong influence on both society and family (Country Profile, 2007).
