ABSTRACT

Usually courts get involved in legal cases after disputes have gone through several steps. Starting from the adoption of relevant legislation, the effects of its more-or-less successful application cause the dissensions that lead to filing a lawsuit. This sequence has important consequences on the judicial work since it resolves disputes while maintaining a certain temporal distance from what happened. However, some cases follow a different path and that is precisely what happened in the case law that will be presented below. Regarding the introduction of internet voting in the Mexican Federal District, the relevant court was required to rule on the preliminary stages of the process and this is why it addresses some concerns that do not frequently show up.
