ABSTRACT

This chapter focuses on political entrepreneurship (PE) as an analytical lens interrogating the actions taken by political actors aimed at bringing about change. It describes the utility of political entrepreneurship as an analytical lens for understanding change, and conversely resistance to change, and thereby shedding light on how PE can be understood and applied. The chapter examines how PE can be applied to new diverse contexts offers exciting opportunities for interactions with other disciplinary fields, most notably Foreign Policy Analysis and International Relations, that address international dimensions and the field of international politics. It outlines key reflections of how a sharper analytical lens of PE and diverse contextual applications can contribute to a future research agenda both for the study of political entrepreneurship itself and its relation to change. The literature on political entrepreneurship remains broad and there is much to be done to ensure that those already interested in PE are seeking to work towards common agendas.
