ABSTRACT
The previous chapter presented a DSA-based analysis of a new land warfare digital mission support system and focused on the impact on DSA that digitising the seven questions mission planning process had during land warfare mission planning training exercises. The findings suggested that the new digital system was adversely affecting the planning process and DSA during the planning activities observed. The purpose of this chapter is to further investigate the mission support system with regard to its effect on DSA during operational activities. Whilst the previous chapter focused on the effect that the new system had on DSA in comparison with the old paper map system, the analysis presented in this chapter focuses more on the way in which the system is designed and how this affects DSA acquisition and maintenance during operations.
