ABSTRACT

Sami Viitamäki is one part marketing practitioner and one part management academic. Having always been drawn to design, he created his first visual identity for corporate use at age 12. After completing a minor degree in advertising and graphic design, Sami enrolled at Helsinki’s School of Economics to pursue a Master’s degree in Marketing. During this time, he also completed a design management programme studying in the Helsinki University of Technology and the Helsinki University of Arts and Design. He completed his studies with a Master’s Thesis on Crowdsourcing, which eventually led to the conception of the FLIRT model presented in this book. For the past ten years, Sami has been working with marketing, design and the Internet for both client and agency sides in various organizations as well as an independent entrepreneur. He is currently a partner at TBWA/Helsinki, where he is also a co-founder of TBWA/DIEGO, an agency focused on enhancing the innovation, management and marketing processes of their clients through utilizing digital and social tools to their full potential. He is an active blogger and speaker on the topic of crowd sourcing and social media.
