ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the role of diagnosis in Airline Operations Control. It describes the airline operations environment and, in particular, the role and scope of the Operations Control Centre (OCC), which manages day-to-day operational decision-making. Attention is then given to the influence of situational awareness and expertise on decision-making processes within the OCC.
