ABSTRACT
The chapters in this international edited collection have presented a range of critical and creative research methods and methodologies that aim to understand the embodied, emotional, experiential and imaginary elements of research relations, processes and outcomes. The projects represented in this book were undertaken in diverse spatial contexts using different mediums like online social media, the telephone and face-to-face interactions and spanned geographical terrains across Australia, Spain, the United States of America, Israel, Malaysia and Sweden. The methods and methodologies used ranged from media analyses via text and photography (Chapters 7 and 8); reflexive autoethnography (Chapter 5) and autoethnography also using memory work, photography and dairies (Chapter 6); participatory community engagement (Chapters 3 and 4); arts-based technologies like drawing (Chapters 9 and 10), clay sculpture (Chapter 10), photography – participants taking photographs (Chapter 6) or researchers analysing photographs in the public domain (Chapters 7 and 8); and narrative-based approaches including oral storytelling (Chapter 1) and longitudinal interviews (Chapter 2).
