ABSTRACT

Water is becoming increasingly a source of concern for China. Its per capita availability of drinking water is very low, and water resources are not well distributed throughout the country. They are mainly concentrated in Southern China and in Tibet, while in Northern China groundwater is being depleted. In addition, pollution has led to the deterioration of the quality of surface and ground water, aggravating existing water shortages.
