ABSTRACT

It has often been said that the biggest asset of any organization is its people – its human capital. Profitability is based on the ability of your people, through their expertise and knowledge, to deliver valuable services to your clients whoever they are. Without people the organization would not function, the procedures and processes so often painstakingly created would not be carried out, the technology (usually at some great expense) would not be correctly or sufficiently utilized and the end product might not be of the right quality/ quantity to produce a successful business. Although organizations realize that people are its main assets, how many of them go on to nurture their people to develop them into the highly skilled, motivated, professional individuals needed to support their organizations in the challenge to be competitive in the marketplace? To this end, effective human resource management is crucial if you want to maximize the value and performance of your staff especially in a time of continuous change.
