ABSTRACT

How is Nigeria a country formed by the unification of traditional and colonial worldviews? Why did the Nigerian military leaders develop a FCC at Abuja in order to cement the union?

The new FCC at Abuja evolved out of British colonialism that began to reconcile traditional ways of doing things and modern ways of doing things in the service of capitalism. However, this fact may not be readily visible to the reader who is not familiar with Nigerian history, and who might consider the city and the territory as originating in 1975 when the leaders of the country were debating where to locate the national capital.
