ABSTRACT
This chapter explores innovative housing typologies with potential to contribute to compact, resilient cities. As population increases and the urbanization trend continues, cities are challenged to contain urban sprawl and ecological footprint in order to remain liveable, resilient and economically competitive. Rising housing costs and associated equity challenges, combined with changes in lifestyles, demographics and household composition, are creating demand for housing that better suits people’s changing needs.
