ABSTRACT

This case study is about the use of a participatory design strategy in a workshop for an aged care complex in Tseung Kwan O. The authors, who are the professional designers, aim to create an elder-friendly community with the primary input of the end users, hoping to explore the potential possibilities that can be generated by this new design strategy. This case study looks into the contributions of the older people at different stages of the project and the benefits to the participants. In addition, it examines the roles a designer can take in order to smooth the design flow as well as to sublimate the collective efforts.
