ABSTRACT

This chapter provides a framework to identify the key elements that make up economic legacy and then goes on to use that framework to measure the direct economic benefits to London and the UK from hosting the summer Olympics in 2012. The final section deals with the indirect economic benefits that are generated as a result of the hosting of the Olympics, leading to an increase in sport participation which then generates other economic benefits following the event.
