ABSTRACT
Social media marketing is progressing at a rapid rate and privacy is at stake. The top four areas which people believe need to be protected in order of importance are: social security number, credit card numbers, mobile phone number and driver's license number. Social engineering hacking is an attack vector that relies heavily on human interaction and often involves tricking people into breaking normal security procedures. This technique is one of the most effective ways in which hackers can gain access to a system. Social media make it even easier, because people post most of the items that make up their passwords like favourite colours, pets' names, children's names, birthday dates and so on. It is also possible to do something called number spoofing. This involves first searching on the Internet to obtain information from the victim's social media activity and any other information publically available online.
