Two cans of beans

The tramp told me I'd given him sixty-one cents which, with the last of his money, had come to a dollar four. He’d bought two cans of beans, a loaf of day-old bread, and a ten-cent pack of Bull Durham rolling tobacco, which came with papers. The groceries had cost a dollar and four cents.
