ABSTRACT

The context of performance studies has recently been expanded by several instances and aspects that add new genres of enacting, presenting, and displaying to the “broad spectrum” of human actions of performing (cf. Schechner 2013: 2). Two of these broader genres are “the media, and the Internet,” as Schechner (2013: 2) almost casually mentions in the third and newest edition of his introduction. Interestingly, however, and even though the “new media-enhanced” edition (see the preface to Schechner 2013) brings with it regularly updated online resources accompanying the printed version, the discussion of explicit performance aspects in online media are still rarely found in the book or online.1
