ABSTRACT

Introduction Every day we experience a deluge of media messages from our social networks, advertisers, news media, and our favorite Internet sites ranging from celebrity gossip to news of the world to streaming video of favorite programs. Consider this: Facebook has 1.317 billion monthly active users, if Twitter were a country it would be the fourth largest in the world, and more than five million photos were uploaded to Instagram daily in 2014 (IACP, 2014).
