ABSTRACT

This conclusion presents an overview of key concepts discussed in the preceding chapters of this book. The book aims to offer and to discuss concrete examples of implementing action research in the criminological field in order to discern its potential and challenges, one of them being the intercultural context of the field of application. It discusses some of the findings with regard to action research on the one hand and restorative justice on the other hand. In Northern Ireland, the researchers set up activities with local organizations to reach out to the local community through group conferences and helped a local community-based organization to develop a strategy for further development. All local research teams developed theoretical reports with regard to concepts central to ALTERNATIVE as a whole, but at the same time relevant to the local setting.
