ABSTRACT
Perhaps ‘Rogues in the City’ as a title does not have the same immediate audience appeal as ‘Sex in the City’ – but, to some, the thought of a ‘Rogue’ is just as appealing as that of Sarah Jessica Parker – and some ‘Rogues’ do become even more famous. The rogues I am looking at here are, of course, the so-called ‘Rogue Traders’, who have lost billions of dollars for their firms, and the ‘Rogues Gallery’ becomes more populated every year. A quick trawl of the internet using any search engine reveals a long list of famous – even notorious – names. Table 4.1 presents a list from several internet sources, all from publicly available information, of recent losses in excess of US$ 1 billion.
