ABSTRACT
The NGO made us pay INR 160 per SHG for the celebration of International Women’s Day (8 March). More than a 1000 women had gathered at the event. There was only one drum of water. No glasses. And a single tent that did not provide enough cover for all. Most women were sitting on the mud. Imagine how much money the NGO must have made from the 70 or more SHGs that were gathered (SHG member, Tamil Nadu).
