ABSTRACT

This chapter describes the evolution of a collaborative working relationship between an academic institution and a private sector organization, the successful application for public funding for innovation, and the development of a tool that measures values in large organizations. Glowinkowski built a business on the application of psychological models of human behavior within organizations based on his career as an organizational psychologist in companies such as ICI and Barclays in the 1980s and early 1990s. He captured these experiences and developed models to measure behavior and managerial "styles of engagement" in ways that provided critical insights to large organizations undergoing periods of change. Throughout 2012 and 2013, Landman and Glowinkowski organized a series of workshops with academics, management consultants, human resource professionals, and experts on corporate social responsibility, values, ethics, and inclusion in business organizations. Finally, both Glowinkowski and Landman brought pre-existing networks to the project, including key stakeholders willing to advise on the progress of work and key organizations prepared to participate in trialling the values tool.
