ABSTRACT

Many anglophone and Western European countries recognize international students as valuable talents and are making significant progress to retain international students on graduation. Meanwhile, the Malaysian higher education system develops international students as talent to better serve their home countries in particular. International students in Malaysia have come mainly from the Asian region and African countries, partly because of the cultural similarities with Malaysia as a Muslim nation, with ready access to halal food etc. They also come because of affordable tuition fees, the relatively low cost of living (Singh, Schapper & Gavin, 2014), economic and political stability, along with the diversity of local cultures and customs (Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) Malaysia, 2011a).
