ABSTRACT

Family Engagement in the Digital Age: Early Childhood Educators as Media Mentors was written to provide a thought-provoking guide to using technology as a tool for parent, family, and community engagement. The intended audience is anyone who works with or on behalf of young children: early childhood teacher educators; professional development providers; educators in preservice, in-service, and continuing education; classroom teachers and family child care providers; informal educators in libraries, museums, and outof-school time programs; and parents and families. The intended outcome is for educators to develop the disposition, knowledge, experience, and competencies needed to achieve a level of digital media literacy necessary to become media mentors for young children, parents, and families and to support parents as media mentors for their children at home.
