ABSTRACT

Defined by trauma, social injustices and multiple losses, Wilfred’s world almost collapsed numerous times but Wilfred learned to find meaning(s) in his challenges and complications and even courage (Attig, 2001; Gillies, Neimeyer, & Milman, 2014; Neimeyer, 2010; Parkes & Weiss, 1983) to change the course of his own life story. This clinical qualitative exploration examines Wilfred’s experiences with sudden death, trauma, sexual discovery, and social and community re-integration/transition. It engages a client and clinical practitioner in a partnership to integrate and facilitate life transitions from assessment to exploring and planning interventions (Guess, 2013; Hedges, 2011).
