ABSTRACT
The year 2013 marked the twentieth anniversary of Dance Aotearoa New Zealand (DANZ) becoming an official and legal entity serving New Zealand dance. Initially funded by the Queen Elizabeth Arts Council it came about through increasing calls for support from the dance sectors, in particular the struggling but developing contemporary dance companies and freelance artists wanting support for their career development and producing/touring.
