ABSTRACT
T his concluding chapter sums up the human biological and cultural past by ask-ing and endeavoring to answer several interrelated questions: 1. What is it that made us human? If becoming human was a single phenomenon, what
was it, and when did it occur in our evolving past? If the things that make us human are multifaceted, what are those human traits, and did we acquire them all at once or over a long time span?
