ABSTRACT

The astute reader will likely detect a pattern in this book. Chapters often begin with a discussion of the difficulties encountered when attempting to define some important terms used by clinical psychologists. It started in Chapter 1 when we struggled to define exactly what is clinical psychology. The theme repeated itself in Chapters 7 and 8 when we described the challenges of defining the terms intelligence and personality respectively. The dilemma presents itself again here. This time the problem word is psychotherapy.
