ABSTRACT

After pre-training, all subjects were taken to a criterion of five consecutive responses to the middle-sized stimulus (stimulus 2) in the first array. The subjects in the size-ordering and brightness-ordering groups were instructed to order the stimuli prior to selecting one. After this training, all subjects received 12-trial test blocks without feedback on arrays 4,5,6 and 7,8,9. All 10 children in the “in-order” condition demonstrated transposition to array 4,5,6 (i.e., responded to stimulus 5), and 9 out of 10  transposed to the large array (i.e., chose stimulus 8), which they had not seen before.
